The forerunner of Fuji Heavy Industries could be dated back to 1917 as an aircraft research laboratory. It became an important aircraft manufacturer in the 1930s and produced many military aircrafts during WWII. After the war, aircraft production was no longer possible under the Allies occupation. Fuji was broken into 12 companies.
